Mills Beach (627) is a south facing more exposed sandy beaches, which receives sufficient high waves along its eastern shore to have a double bar system, with up to 20 rips, spaced every 150 m commonly cutting the outer bar. Even when waves are low the rip channels often persist. Toward the west the beach become more protected and reflective, eventually being fronted by rock flats along the western-most 1 km of beach. The entire beach is backed by foredunes grading into active transgressive dunes along the eastern half, known as the Point Price sandhills. This is in fact the most extensive sand dunes on the western gulf shore, a function of its exposed south facing orientation, and higher gulf waves.
