Douglas Point forms the eastern boundary of a 2 km wide bay that faces southwest directly into the strong winds and high waves. However the entire bay floor consists of limestone reefs, which together with more prominent reefs off either end substantially lower waves at the shoreline. The first beach (25) lies on the western side of the point and faces due west. It is 300 m long and protected by the point and reefs from higher waves which result in waves averaging less than 0.5 m at the shore. These maintain a narrow low gradient beach fronted by shallow patchy sand and reef, and backed by vegetated bluffs, which increase in height to the north. Vehicle access and beach side parking is available at the southern end.
