North of Mullalong Beach is a 2.5 km long west facing open bay, containing four beaches. The first beach 889 lies in a curving, slightly crenulate 1.8 km long beach, which begins in the south as a long energy reflective beach protected by the headland and reefs. There is 4WD access to above the southern end of the beach. Waves increase up the beach to average over 1 m. These maintain a heavy shorebreak along the narrow attached bar, with beach rips forming during higher waves, and a permanent rip draining the southern reef area. The northern end of the ‘bay’ is dominated by 40 m high calcarenite cliffs, which contain three small pockets of sand.
Beach Length: 1.8km
