Immediately north of the harbour the original beach continues up to Port Stanvac and on to the cliffs below the oil refinery. This is a narrow high tide sand and boulder beach (228), backed by 30 to 40 m high bluffs, and fronted by 50 m wide rock platforms cut in steeply dipping g metasedimentary rocks. The 300 m long Port Stanvac jetty is located in the centre of this beach, and while a road runs to the jetty is it no accessible to the public.
