The eastern shore of the bay receives higher westerly wind waves and consists of five longer and more continuous beaches. The yacht club beach (1173) is located immediately northeast of the town. It is a 600 m long curving, west facing low energy beach fronted by 200 m wide sand flats. The yacht club and boat ramp are located toward the centre of the beach. It terminates at a 10 m high knoll on the north side of which is a 2.8 km long curving beach which sweeps up to Crawfords Landing at the northern tip. A rock outcrop toward the centre breaks the beach into a 1.6 km long southern each (1174) and the 1.2 km long northern beach (1175). Low dunes and a vehicle track parallel the back of the beach and lead to the landing.
