Sheep Hill is fronted by moderate slopes which runs down to three beaches. Beach 686 is a straight 220 m long exposed beach, with bordering granite rocks, a continuous bar, and rips against the rocks when waves exceed 1 m. The vehicle track leads to a car park at the southern end. The main Sheep Hill beach (687) is a curving 850 m long sand beach, backed by 100 m wide active sand dunes and a southern usually dry ‘lagoon’. It is bordered by granite rocks, which protrude eastward in the south to afford some additional protection. A continuous bar usually fronts the beach, with a chance of rips toward the northern end during higher waves.
