Cowrie Island is a slightly detached headland, which forms the southern boundary of Cowrie Island beach (78), a 200 m curving moderately protected beach, with a rocky shoreline forming the northern boundary and a rock-reef outcrop toward the centre. Waves average less than 1 m and a narrow bar run the length of the beach. Watch for rips during higher waves.

Swimming

Of these four beaches Post Office Rock is the calmest and safest, with the other three having both higher waves, rocks, reefs and rips.

Surfing

There are a few close-in reef breaks along Wooley Rocks beach.

Fishing

The rocks, rips and reef offer excellent fishing spots.

General

A very accessible and popular stretch of coast heavily utilised during the holiday periods.
