Five Mile Rock is the most prominent headland along this section, reaching a height of over 20 m, and capped by active clifftop dunes. The southern beach (87) is relatively high energy and sweeps for 1 km south of the rocks, with scattered reefs lying 300 to 400 m offshore. Sufficient wave energy reaches the wide low gradient beach to maintain two beach rips as well a permanent rips against the rocks-reef at either end. This is a hazardous beach, with a memorial on the southern headland to a youth who drown in a rip at the beach.
Beach Length: 1km
General Hazard Rating: 7/10
