Three Mile Rocks form a low calcarenite headland, with rocks and reefs dominating the beaches to either side. The south beach (85) is 300 m long with reefs extending up to 500 m off the beach, and rocks occupying much of the inner surf zone. The northern beach (86) is 900 m long, with rocks and reefs increasing toward the northern end forming a platform beach in places.
