Between Cullen Bay and Cape Buffon is a 1.5 km long section of high irregular coast dominated by 10 to 20 m high calcarenite cliffs, in amongst which are five pockets of sand, all fronted by a maze of rocks and reefs. Three are car access roads to Boozy Gully, next to Cullen Bay, and to the Back Beach, with 4WD tracks to 30 m high Stanway Point and Eddy Bay. Cullen Bay (59) has a 150 m long south facing beach which lies beneath 20 m high cliffs. While you can drive to the top of the overhanging cliffs there is no safe foot access to the beach. Two reefs lie 200 m off the beach lowering waves to about 1 m, which maintain a narrow attached bar, with one rip permanent draining the surf zone.
