West of Stenhouse Bay the Pondalowie Road runs along behind the cliffs and bluffs for 4 km providing views and access to five bluff-backed and reef bound beaches that occupy Cable Bay. The first beach is in lee of Chinamans Hat, and small distinctive Island 300 m offshore. There is a bluff top car park and a steep walk down the 20 m high bluffs to the 550 m long south facing beach (387), which protrudes seaward in lee of the ‘hat’. The beach is also protected by extensive reefs and usually has low waves to calm conditions. Offshore however is the famous Chinamans surfing break, a hard right 200 m offshore that breaks over the shallow reef.
Beach Length: 0.55km
