Beach FI 79 is a straight 900 m long beach fully exposed to the westerly winds and wind waves, which average about 1 m along the shore. The waves maintain a 50 m wide low tide terrace to occasional transverse bar and rip, with up to two beach rips and two boundary rips cutting across the bar. It is backed by a low foredune, and then vegetated parabolic dunes. Beach FI 80 lies 50 m to the north past some low rocks, and is a slightly curving 100 m long beach, bordered by granite rocks extending 50 m seaward on either side. The waves maintain a 50 m wide bar drained by a rip against the northern rocks. An active parabolic dune backs the foredune and has blown up to 100 m inland. Beach FI 81 lies 100 m to the north and is a 150 m long beach, with a bar usually cut by a rip against the northern Castle Rock Point. A grassy foredune backs the beach and southern boundary rocks. The three beaches and points are backed by a continuous series of longwalled parabolic dunes that have extended up to 2 km inland to the Palana Road and up to 38 m in elevation, and cover an area of approximately 200 ha. Hays Creek runs along the southern end of the dunes and out onto the southern end of beach FI 79.
