Beach KI 10 commences at Cowper Point and trends to the south then south-southwest for 4 km to a small reef-tied sandy foreland, 500 m north of Blowhole Creek mouth. The northern half of the beach is partly sheltered by Councillor Island, together with shallow tidally driven sand waves that extend between the point and island, while the southern half is fronted by some inner rock flats and shallow rocky seafloor. The result is waves averaging up to 1 m, which maintain a reflective to occasionally low tide terrace sandy beach. The beach is backed by an outer series of unstable foredune, blowouts and minor dune transgression up to 25 m high, then some inner Holocene foredunes, with a narrow wetland separating the outer barrier from an inner 1 km wide Pleistocene barrier consisting of up to 12 low beach ridges. The entire system is 2.5 km wide at the point narrowing south to 1 km at Blowhole Creek. Abeona Creek drains the interbarrier depression and crosses towards the southern end of the beach. There is a 4WD track across the dunes from the northern end of Sea Elephant Road, with the centre of the beach and barrier systems gazetted a recreation reserve.
Beach Length: 4km
