Ettrick Beach (KI 50) occupies 200 m of shoreline extending northwest from the river mouth. The beach is well protected by its embayed location and the bay mouth reefs, with usually low waves to calm conditions at the shore. It consists of a low gradient high tide beach, backed by storm cobbles, grading bayward into rocks and sand flats that have formed at the river mouth as part of the river delta.
