Beach KI 48 occupies 300 m of the southern corner of the bay and is moderately sheltered from the prevailing southwest swell by Cataraqui Point, with waves averaging about 1 m at the shore. They maintain a low tide terrace that grades into rocky seafloor along the southern half of the beach and is bordered by a small granite point and reefs to the north. During higher waves a rip runs out against the rocks.
