Beach KI 43 commences in lee of Black Point and curves to the east then southeast for 3 km to the sandy reef-tied Middle Point. The eastern half of the beach is moderately well exposed to southern waves and usually has a 70 m wide surf zone cut by four to five rips. The western half becomes increasingly sheltered by shallow reefs off Middle Point, which results in low waves and a gradation to low tide terrace conditions. The beach is backed by a foredune, then a 700 m wide band of Holocene transgressive dunes, which originated from Surprise Bay up to 5 km to the west. These are backed by an 800 m wide wetland partly occupied by Big Lake which links to the Colliers Swamp. The lake is drained by a 1.5 km long channel, which meanders through the dunes to drain across the western section of the beach.
Beach Length: 3km
General Hazard Rating: 6/10
