Beach KI 44 commences at sandy Middle Point and trends to the southeast and finally south for 2.8 km to the northern rocks of Stokes Point. The beach is sheltered from westerly waves by Stokes Point and the reef off Middle Point, which extends seaward of the northern half of the beach. As a result waves average less than 1 m and maintain a low tide terrace to occasionally reflective conditions. It is backed by a narrow foredune then the Surprise Bay dunes.
