Point Bunbury is a low sandstone headland covered by dune sand and now occupied by Apollo Bay Golf Course. The harbour lies on the north side of the point, with two beaches along the south-east side. The first is wedged in between the eastern harbour wall and a rock groyne on the point. Sand moving around the point collects here in a 100 m long gap. It is called Borrow Beach, as sand is mined from the beach to both help reduce the harbour fill and for use in aggregate. The beach faces north-east and receives waves averaging 1 m. It usually has a shallow bar with a rip off the beach.

Swimming

Bathing is only possible at Borrow Beach, however be careful here as there are rocks and a permanent rip present.

Surfing

No rideable waves.

Fishing

Both top fishing spots, however be careful on the point as the rocks are awash at high tide and in big seas.

General

Two very accessible but rock dominated beaches, mainly used for fishing.
