Sentinel and Eagle Nest Rocks lie at either end of a major rock fall, below steep, 70 m high, vegetated bluffs. To the east of Sentinel Rocks is a 500 m long strip of sand lying below the bluffs and fronted by a continuous rock platform and reef, with bars further offshore. A similar beach runs for 1 km to the west of Eagle Nest Rock. In addition to the rocks and reefs, there are large rips in the outer surf zone that link up with Glenaire Beach to the east and Castle Cove to the west. There is no direct access to either beach, with Sentinel Rocks the more accessible from the Aire camping area via Glenaire Beach.
