Shelly Beach Picnic Area is located 1 km off the Great Ocean Road, 6 km south of Apollo Bay. The picnic area is set in forests with a 1 km walking track to Shelly Beach. This track and the rock platforms provide the only access to Shelly Beach and the beaches on either side. The coast consists of steep, forested slopes, with low cliffs fronted by extensive sandstone rock platforms. All the beaches are platform beaches lying at the base of the cliffs and toward the rear of the platforms, and are only awash at high tide. Waves average 1.5 m seaward of the platforms. Both Shelly Beach North and Shelly Beach are 300 m long strips of irregular sand fronted by the near continuous platforms, that have occasional tidal pools and gullies through them.
Beach Length: 0.3km
General Hazard Rating: 7/10
