The Blowhole is a narrow gap in the sandstone rock platforms 2.5 km south of Marengo. On the south side of the point are two small, south-west facing beaches backed by grassy slopes. Just beyond the second beach the coast swings to the south-west. A 300 m long strip of sand runs between the slopes and an irregular rock platform, that contains two more open tidal pool areas. These beaches are backed by private property and can only be reached along the rock platforms from Marengo.
All three beaches are fronted by rock platforms, with surf averaging 1.5 m outside. Only a narrow gap at the western end of the second beach and two gaps in Beach 389 provide access to the sea.
