Smythe Creek flows through a steep, V-shaped valley to reach the coast in a small, south facing break in the steep slopes. The Great Ocean Road winds around the small bay, with a car park located in a disused quarry. Below the road is a small, 60 m long beach composed of sand, but with rocks and boulders spread around. Waves average 1.5 m and the beach is unsuitable for safe bathing, but does provide surfers access to a right hand break out off the southern point.
