The Bemm River flows into Sydenham Inlet via a winding delta. The small town of Bemm River is located on the northern side of the inlet, with the mouth located approximately 4 km by boat from the town. The inlet is advertised as the 'bream capital of the world' and is extremely popular in-season. A gravel road also runs out to the coast, joining the beach midway along; where it becomes a 4WD track and runs behind the beach to Pearl Point. There are three parking and beach access points off the track.
The beach runs dead straight east-west for 11 km from the inlet to the rocks east of Pearl Point. It is exposed to all southerly waves which average 1.5 m. It is backed by dunes which narrow to the west; and is fronted by a 200 m wide surf zone with an attached inner bar, which is cut by rips every 300 m; then a long deep trough and the outer bar.
Beach Length: 11km
