At Little Rame Head the coast turns to face almost due south, exposing it to the full force of the southerly waves and south-westerly winds. Between Little Rame Head and Sandpatch Point 9 km to the south-west, are a series of nine beaches spread amongst the jagged metamorphic rock, headlands and reefs that extend all the way to Sandpatch Head. The first six are here referred to as Little Rame Head Beaches 1 to 6. They range in size from 40 to 1 300 m. All receive waves averaging 1.5 m which produce a 150 m wide surf zone, consisting of a continuous outer bar which links the beaches. The bar is cut by strong rips every 300 m on the long beach and against the headlands on the shorter beaches. In addition, numerous rocks and reefs litter the beaches and surf zone. Access to all beaches is by foot along the beach, from the coastal walking track at Benedore River, 1 km west of the sixth beach.
