Henty Park Beach is located inside Portland Harbour and adjacent to downtown Portland. This quiet sand beach was originally part of a more open beach that ran from here to Nunns Beach and below Whalers Point. With harbour construction, the beach has been surrounded by breakwaters and jetties, with a road, park, playground and picnic area behind the beach. Fairy penguins are occasionally seen on this beach at dusk, and covered sanctuaries have been constructed for them in the park as protection from attack by dogs. The beach itself receives very low waves and is usually calm, with a moderate slope into the harbour.
Beach Length: 0.5km
