To the west of the Bay of Islands and Radfords Beach, the next 5 km of coast consist of 50 to 60 m high, crenulate, limestone cliffs, with well-developed rock platforms at their base. A few farm roads run down to the Coastal Park boundary, otherwise the coast has limited access. Beaches begin again just east of Flaxman Hill. The hill is an 80 m high sand dune sitting on top of 50 m high cliffs. Whites Road runs down to the park boundary 1 km west of the hill, where there is a car park behind the 50 m high bluffs, but no facilities. Vehicle tracks follow the park boundary to the bluffs above the other beaches. There are four exposed, south-west facing beaches along this 5.5 km section of coast. The first, Beach 485, lies just east of Flaxman Hill and is 150 m long, backed by vegetated bluffs, with headlands to each end. It is fronted by a bar and two permanent rips, one against each headland.
