Massacre Bay is a 250 m wide bay located in the centre of the larger Bay of Martyrs. The Great Ocean Road skirts the back of the bay, with a car park on the bluffs just to the west. The bay consists of 20 m high, red limestone bluffs, with these three beaches lying below them and separated by protruding sections.
The first beach is 100 m long and has some vegetated dunes that have climbed the bluffs, crossed the road and now extend up to 300 m inland. The two smaller beaches are only accessible at low tide from the main beach. All three receive low waves averaging 0.5 m, that surge across a narrow, continuous bar.
