West of Port Fairy, the coast runs due west for 8 km to Cape Reamur. Low basalt points and offshore reefs dominate the shore. In amongst the rocks are a number of embayments, containing seven crenulate, sandy beaches. All these are dominated by the rocks and reefs and are backed by marram covered foredunes. At low tide, the reefs stop most waves from reaching the shore. A shallow lagoon lies between the beaches and the outer reefs, with patches of rocks and reefs in the lagoons. The Princes Highway parallels the coast 1 km inland. However, most of the land between the highway and the coast is private property and access is limited to walking along the shore. Cape Reamur Beach is a narrow, high tide beach fronted by basalt boulders, a lagoon and outer reefs at low tide.
