Dog Trap Bay is a more open and exposed, 250 m long bay, with bright red limestone headlands. There are some dunes climbing the bluffs behind the beach. Waves break over the patchy reefs and rocks in the surf zone. There is a permanent rip on the eastern side of a small sea stack, and a cobble shoreline at the rear of the beach.
