Childers Cove is a well-known, small cove located about 20 km east of Warrnambool, with a road out to the cove called Childers Cove Road. This sealed road leads out to the cove and two adjoining beaches, with a vehicle track heading east to Dog Trap and Stanhope Bays. Five beaches lie in protected bays and coves within 3 km of coast, that mostly consists of eroded, 20 to 30 m high, limestone bluffs, cliffs, headlands, sea stacks and reefs. They all face south-west, however the five beaches vary considerably in size and nature, depending on the impact of the rocks, reefs and waves. Stanhope Bay is an almost circular bay, with a 200 m wide opening to the sea and a curving, 250 m long beach inside. The narrow beach lies at the base of the cliffs and is fronted by a shallow sand and reef bay floor. Waves are low in the bay, with the water often calm at low tide.
Beach Length: 0.25km
