Belfast Beach lies on the west side of The Cutting and forms the western end of the longer Armstrong Bay-Levy Beach. It faces south and runs for 2 km from The Cutting to the first low, basalt point. Grassy dunes back the beach. There is vehicle access from the Princes Highway via Cormans Road, which runs due south to the Belfast Coastal Reserve. A car park is located at the end of the road and there is also one at The Cutting.
The beach receives high waves at The Cutting, where there is a wide, rip dominated, double bar surf zone. Offshore reefs and Sisters Point cause waves to gradually decrease to the west. The result is a single, rip dominated bar at the first car park and a wide, low, continuous, attached bar with a few rips west of the car park, toward the low point.
Beach Length: 2km
