Shelly Beach (WA 518) is located on the western side of Rocky Head. It trends southwest for 1.1 km to a 100 m long granite point. The beach faces southeast into waves averaging 1.5-2 m, which break across the western Snake Ledge beachrock reef, as well as central granite outcrops. The result is a 100-150 m wide surf zone with a permanent rip against Rocky Head and the central rocks and a third exiting the western end of the ledge. Dunes climbing to 50 m back the beach and extend 500 m to the inlet mouth.
