Long Beach (NSW 529) lies at the end of the Long Beach road, which winds in for about 6 km from the Princes Highway. This is a lower energy southeast-facing beach sheltered 5 km inside the bay. It is backed by a low foredune, a 2 km long beachfront road with houses spread along the western and central beachfront, and a dammed 30 ha wetland behind the centre. The beach begins at the eastern rocks and extends to the west then southwest for 2.3 km to 55 m high Square Head (Fig. 4.372). At its eastern end the rock extends southeast for 1 km to the western point of Chain Bay lowering waves to less than 0.5 m. These increase to the west reaching up to 1 m at Square Head. They maintain a low gradient reflective to occasional low tide terrace beach.
Beach Length: 2.3km
