The main Maloneys Beach (NSW 526) fills most of the valley of Chain Bay. It a curving south-facing 1 km long sandy beach that has prograded south for 500 m as a series of low beach-foredune ridges. These are now covered by a residential development. A road runs along the top of the beach with car parks at each end, and a foreshore reserve in between. Waves are usually low and often calm and combine with the fine sand to maintain a low gradient beach face.
