Oaky Beach (NSW 520) lies 500 m to the southwest, wedged at the base of a 300 m wide rocky bay. The 300 m long southeast-facing beach is backed by a low foredune, a flat area and an old seacliff with steep, densely vegetated slopes. The beach can be reached from two car parks; one on the northern ridge requiring a 500 m walk, while the second is at the end of a vehicle track that winds down to the back of the southern end of the beach. The beach is the most exposed and highest energy of the Murramarang beaches, with waves averaging 1.5 m, which usually maintain a 100 m wide surf zone, with an attached bar cut by strong rips against the rocks at each end and a shifting central rip. This is an isolated hazardous beach and unsuitable for swimming when waves are breaking. read more
