Meroo Beach (NSW 483) extends from the southern side of 800 m long Meroo Head, for 800 m to the base of Nuggan Point. The northern half of the beach is backed by active dune and overwash chutes, the latter related to the usually closed mouth of the backing 50 ha Meroo Lake (Fig. 4.358), while a foredune then vegetated slopes back the southern half. It has a permanent rip against the northern rocks and usually 2-3 beach rips, with waves a little lower in the south. Two hundred metres around the rocks at the southern end is the 120 m long northeast-facing pocket of sand (NSW 484) at the base of the finger-like 400 m long Nuggan Point. This little beach has forest growing right down to the sand, with rough rock platforms to either side.
