The main Boat Harbour beach (NSW 234) is located at the western end of the 500 m deep embayment. It is a curving 200 m long sandy beach that faces east out towards the bay entrance. Waves are lowered to less than 1 m at the shore, where they combine with the fine sand to maintain a low gradient reflective to low tide terrace beach (Fig. 4.137). The beach is used for launching boats, though it is not sheltered enough for anchorage. The sandy beach contrasts with the prominent boulder beaches that line both sides of the bay. The beach is surrounded by parks and parking, then residential houses of Boat Harbour, with Tomaree Nation al Park bordering either side of the settlement.
