At Red Head the coast turns and trends to the southwest for 3.5 km, past the central Inyadda Point to the prominent Green Island. In between are five beaches (NSW 461-463S), backed by the small blufftop communities of Manyana and Cunjurong (population 500). On the southern tip of Red Head is a curving 180 m long high tide sand beach (NSW 461) fronted by 150 m wide intertidal rock flats, and bounded by two protruding rocky points, all composed of 50 million-year-old weathered red basalt. Its a nice spot to sit and fish but can only be used for swimming at high tide; even then rocks abound.
