To the south of Dawson Island is 3 km of steep densely vegetated slopes rising to 285 m high Durras Mountain 1 km to the west, with a shoreline dominated by three narrow bays. Each of the bays has a relatively sheltered cobble and sand beach at their base. The first is Snake Bay (NSW 505), located 500 m south of Dawson Island and consisting of a funnel-shaped bay that narrows to 100 m. It has a 60 m long sand and cobble beach tucked at the far end. The beach face is steep with prominent gravel cusps usually sitting on top of the sand. Rocks dominate the sides of the beach with the action of waves and cobbles abrading grooves in the bordering rock platform. One kilometre to the south is a similar unnamed bay with a steep 80 m long cobble and sand beach (NSW 506) at its base. Reef extends off the beach and narrow rock platforms border each side. Another 700 m to the south past the protruding Clear Point is Burns Bay; a 350 m wide bay, that narrows to a 90 m long primarily cobble beach (NSW 507, also called North Pebbles), with a mixed sand and rock bay floor.
Beach Length: 0.05km
