North of the car park is the northern beach (541) a 12 km long very low energy beach fronted in places by 2.5 km wide tidal flats. The beach is initially backed by the bluffs and a gravel road, which after 5 km give way to a series of low beach-foredune ridges accessible by 4WD tracks and finally multiple recurved spits, backed by high tide salt flats.
