On the western side of the cape the beaches faces into the more open ocean, but are still protected by sand flats which widen considerable into adjoining Tourville Bay. Beach 1300 is a straight south facing 1 km long beach, bordered in the west by low Rocky Point. The sand flats widen from 50 to 500 m along the beach.
