Moonta Bay is the second ‘port’ for Moonta, located just 2.5 km to the southeast. The bay settlement spreads along the gulf shore from Sim Cove for 2 km to north of the jetty. The 500 m long hooked shaped jetty lies at the end of the main road and has a boat anchorage on its northern side, as well as supporting a swimming enclosure toward the outer 250 m wide sand flats. The jetty beach (514) extends for 700 m to the north, and is backed initially by a caravan park, then a foreshore reserve and houses. The sand flats widen to 500 m at its northern end.
