Moonta Bay is a curving west to southwest facing open bay, containing a 4.9 km long sand beach (515), fronted by ridged sand flats up to 800 m wide, which in the north are vegetated by mangroves in lee of Warburto Point. Some minor dunes that have transgressed over earlier foredune ridges back the beach. There are a few houses and good access in the south, and a gravel road then rough vehicle track to the northern end, with 4WD tracks through the dunes.
