Between the north end of Moonta Bay and Point Hughes 9 km to the north is 12 km of crenulate, very low energy shoreline, containing a narrow high tide beach. It is entirely fronted by wide usually vegetated tidal flats, and backed by a mixture of low recurved spits and beach ridges. The entire section is only accessible by 4WD, apart from a gravel road out to the southern end of beach 519, and a vehicle track toward the northern end. Beach 516 is a 300 m long south facing beach bordered by extensive mangroves extending out across the 1 km wide tidal flats.
Beach Length: 0.3km
