The southern beach (1053) extends from immediately north of Walkers Rock beach for 3.9 km to a small calcarenite bluff. It is relatively straight, faces west and receives moderate waves that increase up the beach to average over 1.5 m at the bluff. These break across a low gradient 200 m wide surf zone containing widely spaced beach rips, with a permanent rip against the bluff. The beach is backed by moderately active dune up to 2 km in width and then the southern salt flats on Lake Newland. Then only access to the beach is via 4WD through the dunes or along the beach.
Beach Length: 3.9km
