Point Morrison forms the northern tip of a 5 km wide, 100 m high bedrock plateau that separates Western Cove from Eastern Cove. The 50 m high point is composed of Cambrian sedimentary and metasedimentary rocks, which also dominate the shore south into American River. Five beaches are found around the point; four backed by cleared grazing land and farms with no public access, while Newland Bay is backed by dense vegetation with farmland on the backing plateau.
Beach KI-24 lies 2 km west of the point, and consists of a 50 m long pocket of high tide sand bordered and partly fronted by bedrock, with a small creek draining across the beach.
