Emu Bay is bordered by Cape D’Estaing in the west and White Point in the east. It is 8 km wide and open to the north, though protected in the west from the prevailing westerly winds. The small settlement of Emu Bay is perched on the western bluffs and houses extend along the bluffs behind the western three beaches. There is a small jetty and boat ramp at the western end of the main beach, together with a picnic area, car park and a few shacks. There is no development to the east. Beach KI-205 is the northernmost of the Emu Bay beaches and is a 400 m long, northeast facing sandy beach, bordered and backed by grassy slopes which are slowly being subdivided for housing. A foreshore reserve runs the length of the beach. It usually receives low waves and has a narrow bar that is usually free of rips.
