Breakneck River (KI-143) is one of the larger streams on the west coast. It descends from the plateau along a several kilometre long, V-shaped valley to reach the shore in a 150 m wide gap in the 50 m high cliffs. The beach fills the gap and a mixture of wave, dune and creek sand extends 500 m into the valley, impounding a small lagoon. The river mouth and beach can be accessed along a 3 km long walking track off the West Bay Road.
