Island Beach (KI-35) is a 5.5 km long, northeast to north facing beach that extends from Strawbridge Point to low Rocky Point in the east. A gravel road backs the beach, servicing a 2 km long stretch of houses and shacks along the centre of the beach, in addition to numerous pedestrian and vehicle access tracks. The low gradient sandy beach is fronted by a 100 m wide surf zone consisting of rips spaced every 50 to 100 m along the shore, with two more rhythmic bars seaward. These bars and rips are inactive much of the time, with waves only breaking and rips flowing when waves exceed 1 m.
Beach Length: 5.5km
General Hazard Rating: 3/10
