Kangaroo Head is a 50 m high, sloping sandstone headland that forms the eastern entrance to Eastern Cove. Rocky coast extends south of the head for 4 km to American Beach and east for 2 km to Penneshaw. In amongst the rocks are two small beaches. To the south is 40 m long Congony Beach (KI-44), a pocket of high tide sand fronted by a low tide boulder beach, with a patch of sand offshore. A vehicle track leads to a solitary fishing shack at the beach, which is surrounded by sloping farm land. One kilometre east of the head is a 120 m long high tide sand beach (KI-45) fronted by a 50 m wide intertidal rock platform and deep water. Neither beach is accessible to the public and Kangaroo Head beach in particular is hazardous owing to the rock platform.
